Urban Workshop
project overview
Featuring a system of open units with a robust metal structure, this design is inspired by the large worktops found in professional industrial kitchens but reinterpreted for the modern home. It acts as a “fine food production centre”—a kitchen that functions like a high-end delicatessen store yet feels like a living room. The concept blurs the lines between utility and leisure, creating a theatrical stage for cooking where efficiency meets industrial elegance.

Design and Construction
Elegant, choice quality materials define a kitchen that is delightful to spend time in, opening seamlessly onto the living area. The design features modular elements with vast personalisation potential.
Surfaces: The worktop is a stunning interplay of hygiene and luxury, combining AISI 304 stainless steel for the active cooking zones with Calacatta marble for the plating areas.
Cabinetry: The storage solutions include Indoor cupboards finished in open-pore black oak with retracting doors (pocket door system) that reveal a large number of internal fittings in warm beech wood.
Details: The structure is accentuated by knurled metal handles and wire-mesh glass upper cabinets, adding a tactile industrial texture to the smooth matte lacquer facades.
The Results
One of the most important aspects of this kitchen design project was balancing the “machine-like” efficiency with residential comfort.
Appliance Strategy: From professional-grade refrigerators to steam ovens and silent dishwashers, the appliances play a key role. We selected models that are not only stylish—blending with the steel aesthetics—but also efficient and energy-saving.
Atmosphere & Lighting: Lighting is the unsung hero here. Integrated LED strips in the open shelving and under the extraction hood improve the ambiance, making the metal surfaces gleam and the space feel more inviting and spacious.
The Final Touch: Finally, the details make the difference. From the dedicated hardware rails for hanging utensils to the custom drawer dividers, every inch is optimized. Overall, this project results in a functional “Gastro-Lounge” that you and your family will love for years to come.
